Neomarket is a project I developed in just seven days for ThoughtWorks as an assessment. The goal was to create a fresh, innovative approach for a new supermarket chain entering the Brazilian market, focusing on accessible, inclusive, and efficient solutions. By blending strategic design with advanced technology, Neomarket aims to redefine the modern retail experience, enhancing customer convenience in meaningful ways. This project showcases how impactful solutions can be delivered within a tight timeframe, reflecting a forward-thinking vision for the future of shopping.

Innovative Shopping Solution

I approached NeoMarket's challenge with a focus on reimagining the shopping experience, emphasizing innovation and accessibility. Recognizing the complexities of automating checkout systems, I aimed to develop a solution that balanced technological advancements with social responsibility. Drawing on user research and market insights, I proposed an experience designed to address customer pain points while remaining inclusive and intuitive. Though this was a conceptual exercise, it allowed me to demonstrate my ability to think strategically and craft solutions that align with both user needs and business goals.

02

Technical Expertise

In tackling the NeoMarket challenge, I focused on delivering high-quality outputs that showcased my technical expertise. From conducting user research to designing prototypes, every step was guided by a commitment to detail and functionality. I ensured the proposed solution aligned with the project’s objectives, leveraging tools and methodologies that reflected industry standards. While this was an assessment rather than a live project, it highlighted my ability to create thoughtful, user-centered designs and translate complex problems into actionable solutions.

03

Creative Problem-Solving

The NeoMarket challenge was an opportunity to demonstrate my creative problem-solving skills by addressing a multifaceted scenario. I combined user insights with innovative thinking to propose a solution that balanced automation, accessibility, and social impact. By exploring different approaches and iterating on ideas, I developed a concept that was both practical and forward-thinking. Although this project remained a conceptual exercise, it underscored my ability to tackle complex challenges with a fresh perspective and deliver solutions that resonate with both users and stakeholders.

02

Accessibility and Inclusion

Accessibility was central to the concept, ensuring the solution was intuitive and inclusive for all users. By prioritizing usability and designing for diverse needs, the project reflected NeoMarket’s commitment to breaking barriers and fostering inclusivity.

03

Social Responsibility

The solution emphasized balancing automation with societal needs, addressing the potential impacts on communities. By integrating social responsibility into the concept, NeoMarket aimed to innovate thoughtfully and ethically.

Design & Development

Design & Development

A central aspect of this project was evaluating user behavior and analyzing competitors' applications to identify gaps in the market. Many supermarket apps failed to offer accessible navigation, intuitive product searches, or inclusive design. To address these issues, I developed a concept for NeoMarket that emphasized clarity, functionality, and an inclusive shopping experience, setting it apart from existing solutions.

The proposed design combined NeoMarket’s dedication to innovation with user-focused insights, ensuring every feature supported accessibility and usability. This approach resulted in a cohesive concept that reflected the brand’s commitment to technology and inclusivity while addressing common user frustrations in a fresh and effective way.

01

Challenges

One of the primary challenges I faced during this project was balancing innovation with accessibility. Designing a seamless, intuitive experience for a wide range of users required a deep understanding of diverse user needs and the ability to address them with technology. Additionally, incorporating a social responsibility aspect while staying aligned with the company’s business goals demanded careful consideration of both operational and ethical factors. Navigating these complex requirements required frequent iteration and thoughtful problem-solving.

02

Learnings

Through this project, I gained valuable insights into the importance of user-centered design and the necessity of addressing real-world problems with technology. I learned how crucial it is to conduct thorough research and incorporate feedback to refine solutions continually. This experience also reinforced my understanding of how innovation can drive business growth, but it must always be balanced with inclusivity and social awareness to create meaningful, sustainable solutions.

03

Impact

The impact of this project was not just in the design itself, but in my ability to approach challenges with a strategic mindset. By focusing on the core principles of innovation, accessibility, and social responsibility, I was able to create a solution that was both practical and forward-thinking. This experience enhanced my ability to think critically about user needs, integrate feedback effectively, and develop solutions that align with broader business goals, ultimately strengthening my design process and approach to problem-solving.
